Runs in the Background: No Launcher, No Home Screen to Replace

November 1, 2026 · 2 min read

Dam It! is not a launcher and doesn't change how your phone looks. You grant one permission, Android's Accessibility Service, and it runs in the background from then on. There's no home screen to replace, no timer to set each day and nothing to open before you use your apps.

Why no launcher

Launcher-style blockers, such as minimalist launchers, work by replacing your home screen, which changes how you use the whole phone. Dam It! doesn't touch the home screen or your apps. It only acts at the moment you swipe inside a short-form feed.

Set up in about 60 seconds

  1. Download. Install from Google Play. No account, no email, no sign-up form.
  2. Enable Access. Grant Android's Accessibility Service so Dam It! can see and block swipes inside YouTube, Instagram and TikTok.
  3. Keep your time. That's it. Dam It! runs quietly in the background.

Setup takes about a minute: Dam It!, 7 days free.

Battery

The Accessibility Service is event-driven: it only wakes up when you open one of the supported apps, so the battery impact is small.

Questions people ask
